Rebuilding in Paper
Notes on retiring the warm palette, the dark mode, and the serif — and why the redesign moved toward a near-white, Inter-typeset magazine.
There was a version of this site with cream surfaces, Cormorant Garamond, and a glass sphere that floated in the corner. It read as warm, which I thought I wanted, until I put it beside a liquid-metal reference and saw the sphere go flat against cream. Reflections need somewhere clean to land.
What changed
- Palette: a single near-white surface, neutral ink, hairline dividers. Sky blue and metallic silver live on as accents for CTAs and the 3D scene only.
- Typography: Inter for both heading and body, JetBrains Mono for meta, Pretendard for Hangul. No serif. The italicized display was the hardest thing to let go of.
- Hero: pinned sequencing + horizontal track, Form&Fun meets Rauno. The Mercury Sublimation scene arrives in the next pass.
What I kept
The mantra — Create beautifully. Connect deeply. Savor fully. Three lines carry the structure of the About page, too.
What's next
A shader tuning pass for the bubbles (they were too opaque on the first attempt), then the Studio page, then Contact, then a Lighthouse sweep.
